The EU plans to significantly increase the proportion of RES equipment produced within Europe by 2030, according to a draft cited by PV-Magazine. Specifically, the target is to produce within the EU 40% of photovoltaics, 85% of wind, 60% of heat pumps, 85% of batteries and 50% of electrolytes for hydrogen production by 2030.

This ambitious goal serves two purposes: on the one hand, it aims for the EU’s energy independence, minimizing its dependence on third countries such as China, which currently own the vast majority of PV equipment, while on the other hand, it will support European industry. It should be noted that Europe has already set an ambitious goal of adding 600 gigawatts of photovoltaics within the decade.
