The home battery industry in Europe saw a 57% increase with 745 megawatt hours of new capacity last year, while the total installed capacity reached almost 2 gigawatt hours, according to SolarPower Europe.

The link in a relevant announcement also points out that so far only 7% of household photovoltaics in Europe have a battery, so there is great room for further development.

Geographically, Germany is by far the largest market in the EU. with two thirds of the share, while together with Italy, Britain, Austria and Switzerland they account for 90%.

For this year, the facilities are expected to reach 810 megawatt hours, but in 2021 more intense growth is forecast and in the medium term the total will reach 7.2 gigawatt hours by 2024.
