2022 will be the first year that global photovoltaic installations will break the 200 gigawatt barrier, according to BNEF.

Specifically, in a new report it states that in the average scenario the facilities will reach 228 gigawatts, with 204 at low and 252 at high.

This is a significant upgrade compared to previous estimates, where in the high scenario they had a forecast of 206 gigawatts.

In terms of prices, BNEF estimates that polysilicon production will increase by 39% annually this year as a result of new industrial facilities and the removal of some of last year’s barriers.

The price of polysilicon has already fallen from $ 37 in October to 32% in December and is expected to fall further to $ 20-25 in the second half of 2022.

At the same time, improved performance and the use of larger 182 and 210mm tablets are projected to reduce the cost of the systems by $ 0.01 to $ 0.23-0.24 in the second half of the year.
