Renewable energy sources, aided by the που wind that raised wind production to high levels, set a triple record in the previous two days.

According to the official data of IPTO, the day before yesterday, Monday, there was a historical record of daily wind production, which reached 61.4 gigawatt hours, a size that corresponds to about half of the demand (48%) of the day. Overall, renewables covered 59% of daily demand (48% wind, 10% photovoltaic, 1% other RES).

In addition, according to the website windeurope which records the production of electricity from wind farms across Europe, our country on Monday and yesterday Tuesday was at the top of Europe as the wind covered 48% and 45% respectively of demand current. These rates were by far the highest in Europe – even from countries with higher wind potential – as much weaker winds prevailed in other countries.

The data are shown in the attached graphs (the windeurope graph refers to September 7).
