Wood Mackenzie predicts significant growth for energy storage solutions and electric vehicles from now on, as it estimates that global lithium battery production capacity will quadruple by 2030 to 1.3 terawatt hours compared to 2019 levels.

In a new report, the company also states that Asia will maintain production reins with companies such as CATL, LG Chem, BYD and SK Innovation. All this while today Asia has 80% of the productive power.

In the case of Europe, which aspires to play a more important role in the future, it is estimated that an increase is expected through the large plants planned by Northvolt in Sweden and Germany. At the same time, there is talk of the joint venture of the French Saft with the PSA group for new capacity.

Europe today has only 7% of the world’s total battery capacity and is projected to reach 25% in the next ten years.
